Team building is the process in which a group of people through shared activities and experiences become more efficient at working together. Some employers use team building to promote productivity and communication among co-workers. Through team building games, activities and events people are able to bond over common interests and get to know each other better. There are five stages to forming a team, forming, storming, norming, performing and reforming. Forming is where the team members meet, learn about their roles and choose the leader. Storming is when the team members express their opinions and conflicts may arise where the team leader must intervene. Norming is where habits that support the group rules and goals are developed and the team members become accustomed to the rules and relationships grow. Performing is where levels of trust, motivation and decision making increase and the team comes together to perform their tasks. Lastly is reforming where the team celebrates their success in achieving their goals.
